As a teenager, Gabriel Frippiat was abused by one of his teachers, the priest Henri Mathieux, at the boarding school of Bastogne, in the early 70s. In 2010, the setting up of the commission "Sexual Abuse in the Church "he comes out of silence, learning that the man is still exercising.

The facts dating back 40 years are prescribed when he decides to make a complaint.

Gabriel Frippiat, however, decides to send a letter to the Vatican in 2015. An answer came to him on September 12: "I convict Abbe Henri Mathieux of having committed the offense of abuse on Mr. Gabriel Frippiat when he was minor and, therefore, given the seriousness of the facts, I inflict the punishment of dismissal of the clerical state, "a decision made by Pope Francis and transmitted by Cardinal Joseph De Kesel, the Archbishop of Mechelen-Brussels .

A final sanction rather rare, according to Tommy Scholtes, the spokesman of the episcopal conference of Belgium, which evokes from memory four or five cases in Belgium.

The prescription is currently 15 years after the majority of the victim and 30 years if an act has been performed (a complaint, for example).
