Never in the last thirty years has pension reform been limited to future generations. Even Nicolas Sarkozy, who first attacked the special schemes in 2008 by aligning their contribution period to 40 years in private and public, had not used this scheme. Nor had he retreated from the challenge (he had faced 13 days of national strike) when he raised, in 2010, the legal age of departure to bring to 62 years for all.
