A baby left in a chest for almost two years: five years in prison for the mother

Uno sentence of five years in prison was pronounced Wednesday on appeal in Limoges against Rosa da Cruz, the mother of Serena, the baby said "the chest" remained hidden and confined for 23 months, at the price of disabilities today permanent.

The sentence handed down by the Haute-Vienne Assize Court of Appeal, after four hours of deliberation, is accompanied by a socio-judicial follow-up of six years, with obligation of care. A sentence of "not less than 10 years" in prison was required against the mother of the child, who spent his first 23 months in a car or a basement, without the knowledge of all.

Discovered during a car repair, Serena spent almost two years in a basket, most often in the chest of the maternal break, or in a room under work on the ground floor of the family home, without the knowledge of the whole household.

At almost 8 years old, Serena has the mental development of a child of 2-3 years, and will live until her majority at least between host family and specialized institute, said the experts during the eight days of trial.
