The first of the two arrivals in the special category of the Tour of Spain 2019 will take place at the top of the Machucos, a short port, with ramps that reach up to 25% of unevenness and that in their final part do not go down in any moment of the two digits.
The thirteenth stage will lead the peloton from Bilbao, with a historic ride at the exit neutralized by the grass of the San Mams football stadium, until the final climb on Centabra lands at the top of the Machucos, Monument to the Cow Pasiega, with 166 , 4 kilometers of travel.
Cyclists must overcome up to six previous ascents, distributed along the entire route, with two high of second category and three of third, before facing the last 6.8 kilometers of ascent to the Machucos with its vertiginous ramps.
In the first three kilometers of the final climb, cyclists will always find ramps above 15 percent and up to 25, but with some breaks.
For the following sections, find yourself facing an authentic wall where you will not go down at any time of 10 percent and come back up another ramp with 25 percent of accumulated unevenness.
The candidates for the final red jersey must test the forces of the leader of the race, the Slovenian Primoz Roglic (Jumbo-Visma), which so far has practically not shown any fissure against the attacks of his rivals.
Roglic starts with 1 minute and 52 seconds ahead of Spanish Alejandro Valverde (Movistar) and with 2 minutes and 11 seconds over Colombian Miguel Angel Lpez (Astana).
The peloton departing punctually from Bilbao at 12:58 hours (CEST) and its arrival at Los Machucos stop is scheduled at 5.35 pm.
