Mexico hit the United States tonight 3-0 in the game that meant the return of Javier "Chicharito" Hernández, who scored a goal to consolidate himself as the top scorer of the "Tri" with 52 goals.

The Sevilla striker had not played with Mexico since March, when the "Tri" beat Paraguay 4-2, and then was absent from the Gold Cup due to the birth of his first son.

In the game played at Metlife Stadium in New Jersey, Hernandez scored the goal when he finished off with a head sent by Jesús Corona, who overflowed by the right sector at 21 minutes.

Erick Gutierrez scored the second at 78 minutes when he took advantage of a goalkeeper's error to define with a left-footed shot at the entrance of the area.

The United States was close to discounting at 80 minutes with a shot from Alfredo Morales who hit the right post.

Two minutes later Uriel Antuna scored the third goal with a shot at the goalkeeper's exit after receiving a pass from Hirving Lozano on a counterattack.

The United States had the opportunity to score at 88 minutes by way of the penalty kick, but Mexican goalkeeper Jonathan Orozco stopped shooting Josh Sargent.
