France's Pauline Ferrand-Prevot was crowned mountainbike world champion for the second time in her career at the Mont-Saint-Anne circuit in Canada on Saturday. Only Belgian at the start, Githa Michiels took the 19th place.

At the end of the six laps, the six-time French champion won 43 seconds ahead of world cup leader Jolanda Neff of Switzerland and 17 seconds behind Rebecca McConnell of Australia. .

Dutchman Anne Terpstra took 4th place ahead of American title holder Kate Courtney and 5th this time Saturday.

27-year-old Pauline Ferrand-Prevot had surgery for a blood pressure problem (iliac churn) six months ago. The Frenchwoman had signed her return to the fore with a World Cup victory at Val di Sole in early August.

She won a second world title after 2015, the year of title in cyclocross. She won the road world title in 2014.
