The Dutchman keeps the advantage at the start, but Sergio Sette Camara in second place does not start as well. On the contrary, Louis Delétraz is off to a good start and the Swiss are second. Nicholas Latifi is slightly touched by Mick Schumacher: the Canadian has a puncture on his DAMS and finds himself last.
At the end of the first lap, Ghiotto achieves a nice overtaking on Mazepin. While we are at the beginning of the second round, the realization suddenly shows three cars very damaged at the top of the Raidillon, including one in the air. Hubert's car is cut in half at the engine block while Correa's car lands upside down. We will not know more about the moment, the cameras turning immediately on the other cars. Note that Alesi is stopped further with a flat tire and the missing rear wing. The red flag is obviously brandished and all remaining cars enter the pit lane.
After information, we learn that Giuliano Alesi spun away almost at the top of the Raidillon. He seems to avoid it, Anthoine Hubert came out on the right of the track and violently tapped the barriers. Returning near the track, he was hit on the side by Juan Manuel Correa who arrived at full speed but was also out of bounds of the track.
The race management does not communicate about the drivers involved but it seems that it is Hubert, Correa and Sato. We first see with relief Marino Sato walking, but we have no more news of the other two pilots involved, although it seemed that Correa was moving his hand after landing his Sauber.
Following this violent accident, the race director finally decides not to resume the race, which is stopped after two laps.
More information coming soon …
