The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Mirex) and the Canadian Embassy in the Dominican Republic announced yesterday the realization of the “Inclusive Governance” workshop, which will be held from October 1 to 9 at the Foreign Ministry Convention Center and in several communities in the country .
The “Inclusive Governance” workshop consists in recognizing the diversity that exists within a population and ensuring that everyone can fully enjoy the services and public policies, programs and initiatives of the Government and private institutions.
Miguel Vargas explained that the activity will be aimed at representatives of the State, civil society, academia and private sector, with the aim of “promoting the recognition of diversity within the population and ensuring the enjoyment of public services, programs and initiatives to everyone".
"The country advocates for greater representation of women at all levels of decision and supports public policy development promotion platforms in favor of inclusion," he said.
The Canadian ambassador, Shauna Hemingway, said that this series of workshops will help the two countries "to continue collaborating to improve our policies and practices in order to benefit all our citizens."
This workshop will examine factors such as age, sex, location, income or membership in a vulnerable group, among many others. The Foreign Ministry initiative, in addition to the Canadian embassy, also has the support of the Ministry of Economy, Planning and Development (MEPyD), and Ministry of Women (MMujer).
