The UFC lightweight belt did not go anywhere.

This Saturday, Khabib Nurmagomedov scored the second successful defense of his title by submitting three-round interim monarch Dustin Poirier in the UFC 242 stellar event in Abu Dhabi.

Nurmagomedov dominated the fight from the first moment, using his fight to take to the canvas to Poirier, where he punished him with his elbows to cause him a cut in the forehead.

However, for the second assault Poirier managed to hurt Nurmagomedov, causing him to stagger although he could not complete the feat and ended up being knocked down again by the champion.

For the third, Poirier sought a subjugation with a padlock around his neck, but "The Eagle" defended himself well and placed himself in a favorable position to fit a strangulation in the back that ended the fight at 2:06 of the third round.

With his victory, Nurmagomedov placed 28-0 while Poirier stagnated 25-6, ending a streak of four consecutive wins.

In the previous fight, Paul Felder beat the experienced Edson Barboza with controversial decision with 29-28 and 30-27 cards, while the Brazilian also received a 30-27. Islam Makhachev also had to wait until the cards to beat Davi Ramos by unanimous decision, both light weight bouts.

For his part, Curtis Blaydes needed two rounds to knock out Shamil Abdurakhimov in his full-weight fight and Carlos Diego Ferreira unanimously beat Mairbek Taisumov in light weight.

On the preliminary billboard by ESPN +Joanne Calderwood beat Andrea Lee by decision divided in female flyweight; Zubaira Tukhugov and Lerone Murphy tied for split decision in their featherweight fight; Sarah Moras finished in three rounds by technical knockout to Liana Jojua in a weight fight agreed at 138 pounds after Moras did not beat the scale; and Ottman Azaitar finished in the first assault on Teemu Packalen by light weight knockout.

Finally, on the preliminary Fight Pass billboard, Belal Muhammad subdued Takashi Sato in the welterweight with throttling; in that same division Muslin Salikhov destroyed in the first assault Nordine Taleb by knockout; Omari Akhmedov beat Zak Cummings in middleweight and Don Magde beat Fares Ziam in lightweight, both fights were unanimous decisions.
