During his presentation at the Forum for Competitiveness, the Minister of Economy, Carlos Oliva, explained that the infrastructure gap in the country amounts to S / 363 billion, of which the Infrastructure Plan presented by the Executive will seek to address some S / 100 billion.
Oliva explained that several companies have already expressed their interest in participating in the execution of this infrastructure. In addition, there are also countries interested in achieving government-to-government agreements for the development of the Project Management Office (PMO) scheme, used during the Lima 2019 Pan American Games. The minister noted that there are countries that have already expressed their interest as Britain, who already worked with Peru in Lima 2019; as well as the United States, in a recent meeting with its secretary of Commerce; among others.
“We are interested in Australia, Canada, and other countries interested in these tools. It has not only been a cabinet job. We have socialized with the private companies the whole process to reach a plan that has been explained to the different sectors and creates this guarantee that it is a plan that will last in this government, ”said Minister Oliva.
The minister explained that the infrastructure gap is equivalent to approximately 49% of GDP. In addition, he indicated that together with the Presidency of the Council of Ministers (PCM), an institutional structure is being created that allows the plan projects to be monitored so that they are executed regardless of changes of ministers.
“The important thing is that the institution remains, who will follow up together with the private sector and the academy. There are a number of features that make this plan credible, funded. It is a reflection of the initiatives of this government, ”he said.
