In Miami, which has lived on medium gas all weekend, the morning traffic was more fluid today than normal, despite the fact that activity resumed in private offices and businesses.

Public schools will reopen tomorrow, as will most of the private, state universities and offices in South Florida.

The Miami International Airport has remained active at all times, while the other most important in the area, Fort Lauderdale, is scheduled to resume operations on Tuesday, after being closed 24 hours as a preventive measure by Dorian.

The West Palm Beach airport continues without operations until further notice. A message posted on its website indicates that it is working "diligently" with a view to resuming commercial flights as soon as possible.

Of the 1,734 cancellations of flights departing or arriving from the US counted by the FlightAware specialized page until about 12.00 (16.00 GMT), most were related to Dorian.

Of the total flights canceled, 361 correspond to the Orlando International Airport (Central Florida), which remains without commercial operations.

The Everglades ports in Fort Lauderdale and Miami are inoperative since Sunday by decision of the Coast Guard.
