PLAY THE UCL FANTASY
Cristiano Ronaldo (€ 11.5m) – Juventus
Top scorer in UEFA Champions League history, Ronaldo has scored 126 goals in 162 games with Manchester United, Real Madrid and Juventus. 47.6% of the goals have been in the group stage. His best performance in this phase came in 2015/16, when the Portuguese striker found the network 11 times with Madrid. Two years later, in 2017/18, Ronaldo became the first player to score in the six games of the league.
Lionel Messi (€ 11.5m) – Barcelona
Right behind Ronaldo is Messi. Second in the list of top scorer of the UEFA Champions League of all time, the Argentine has 112 goals in 135 games, all of them with Barcelona. His 66 goals in the group stage are the current record, five ahead of Ronaldo. Messi is also above Ronaldo in the #UCLfantasy group stage in the last three seasons, with 116 #UCLfantasy points in those three seasons, more than any other player, and with an average of just under 39 points per season, which means 6.44 points per game.
Neymar (€ 11.5m) – Paris
In the last three seasons, Neymar has been possibly the most consistent player in the #UCLfantasy group stage. The Brazilian is the only player who has recorded 33 points or more in the group stage in each of the last three seasons, adding a total of 114 points in that period. This consistency is mainly due to his threat as a scorer and as a creator. In the last three courses, Neymar has recorded 13 goals and 12 assists.
Edinson Cavani (€ 9.0m) – Paris
Despite his excellent records in the group stage in the last three years, Cavani is reasonably priced this season. In 2018/19 he only scored two goals, and the Uruguayan scored 24 points at an average of 4.00 per game. Before last year, Cavani had been one of the most prominent players in the #UCLfantasy, with 41 points in the group stage in the 2016/17 and 2017/18 seasons. During those two years, Cavani saw the door 12 times, and it could be a bargain if he regains that form.
Robert Lewandowski (€ 10.5m) – Bayern
He has scored 16 goals in the group stage in the last three seasons, eight of them in 2018/19, more than any other player, which makes him the top scorer of #UCLfantasy in the first six days last season. Currently sixth in the UEFA Champions League top scorers chart, Lewandowski aims to move up in the standings with another good performance this year.
