Donald Cerrone return tomorrow to the Octagon to face one of the most attractive fights of the 155-pound division at Justin Gaethje on the stellar of UFC Fight Night Vancouver.
‘Cowboy’ hopes to extend its streak for more victories in the history of the promotion (23) to maintain the hope of being the second online fighter (obviously behind Tony Ferguson) on the lookout for titular opportunity.
Chatting with the media (via MMA Junkie) after training open to the public, Cerrone, who has achieved seventeen victories by submission in his career, talked about how he thinks he would be in a potential fight with the monarch of the division, Khabib Nurmagomedov.
“I think people should welcome Khabib on the canvas. How would Khabib do on his back? What if I knock it down? Who the fuck knows? ”
Indeed, no fighter has dared to take Nurmagomedov to the canvas. However, Cerrone is more than certain that if he defeats Gaethje tomorrow, he will have his second UFC title opportunity secured between the winner of the Russian and Ferguson.
“When I defeat Gaethje there will be no one else. That would be all. There would be no one else ahead of me. ”
Cerrone and Nurmagomedov had two contests scheduled in the past that never materialized: the first for the UFC 178 and the second for UFC 187. On both occasions the fight fell due to injuries of the Russian in his knee.
