On an electrifying inaugural day, Canada took all eyes and applause for lowering two Pan American records in the persecution qualifiers at the velodrome of the Sports Training and Training Center (CEFED) of La Tamborada; In a historic day.
In the women's team chase qualifier (four kilometers), Canada surpassed its own Pan American record and the one that the United States momentarily established in the test yesterday.
The Canadians held the Pan American record of four minutes and 21 seconds. The US beat that mark by completing the tour at 4.18.766. However, the joy did not last long, as Canada regained the record after finishing the test at 4.13.744, to the joy of its partials.
The North American delegations were ahead of Mexico, Colombia and Chile in this persecution classification.
On the other hand, the Canadian men's team set a new Pan-American record in this same modality (beating Colombia), since it finished the race in three minutes, 53 seconds and 481 hundredths.
According to the schedule established by the organization, the second phase and end of the persecution will take place today between 6:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m.
Last night, Trinidad and Tobago won gold in speed tests on the track of the CEFED velodrome.
The Central American delegation set a new Pan American record by completing the three laps, with 63.66 kilometers per hour, in 42 seconds and 395 cents.
Argentina (44,596) took out the silver and Ecuador (45,736) obtained the bronze.
CERTIFICATION
During the opening ceremony of the Pan-American event, the International Cycling Union (UCI) approved the Llajta velodrome and gave it the level 1 certification for the organization of continental tournaments.
