Canada prepares for Rugby World Cup

The ninth edition of the Rugby World Cup will take place from 20 September to 2 November in Japan in 20 stadiums across the archipelago.

The teams submitted their list of players on Monday.

Remember that Canada qualified for the 2019 World Cup last November.

The Canadian team became the 20th and final national team to secure their ticket to Japan with a 27-10 win over Hong Kong.

Ranking 21st in the world, the Canadian team is in Group B, with New Zealand, world number one, South Africa (5th), Italy (14th) and Namibia (23rd).

Canada's first game in the preliminary round will be Thursday, September 26 against Italy at Fukuoka Stadium.

Then the Canadians will face Wednesday, October 2, New Zealanders in Oita, Tuesday, October 8, South Africans in Kobe
. and Sunday, October 13 Namibians at Kamaishi.

The quarter-finals begin Saturday, October 19th.

The 20 teams were divided into four groups of five, ie 10 games per group, 40 games in total (48 counting the final phase):

  • Pool A: Ireland, Scotland, Japan, Russia, Samoa
  • Pool B: New Zealand, South Africa, Italy, Namibia, Canada
  • Pool C: England, France, Argentina, United States, Tonga
  • Pool D: Australia, Wales, Georgia, Fiji, Uruguay

Teams ranked 1 and 2 in each group qualify for the quarter-finals
