Cairo – The Arab League said Sunday its "total solidarity" with the Lebanese state against the attacks it could suffer, in a context marked by an escalation of tension with Israel.
In a statement, Arab League Secretary-General Ahmed Abou El Ghait said he is following "with concern the developments of the shootings in the border areas between Lebanon and Israel", saying that an escalation of Military clashes between the two sides could escalate.
In this regard, Mr. Abou El Ghait called on the international community to assume its responsibilities in the face of Israeli provocations, likely to lead to more tensions for purely electoral purposes.
"Preserving the credibility of Lebanese institutions must be a major priority in this sensitive context," he insisted.
Israeli policies aim to destabilize Lebanese cohesion and unity, which forces the Lebanese, in order to counter this laid-open plan, to focus on the institutions and keep the political and security decision in the hands of the state. while placing the interest of the fatherland above all other considerations, he warned.
Citing a statement from the Lebanese army, Lebanese media had announced earlier in the day that an Israeli drone violated Lebanese airspace and threw incendiary materials, causing fires in a forest on the Lebanese border.
Lebanon denounced Israel's continued violation of its airspace, saying "these drones are endangering the UN peacekeeping forces deployed in the region".
