The two Belgians are in contention on Wednesday at Flushing Meadows.

After Elise Mertens and Kirsten Flipkens, both winners of their first round, it's Alison Van Uytvanck's turn to take the necklace. The Brabançonne will play its second round against the Chinese Qiang Wang, ranked 18th at the WTA.

The task looks so difficult for the Belgian, who had released the Slovak Viktoria Kuzmova in two rounds in the previous round.

At 22h, David Goffin (seeded number 15) will try to qualify for the third round against the French Grégoire Barrère, 109th ATP. In the first round, the Liege had lost a set against Corentin Moutet, but had reacted by finishing the match on a wheel.

But the rain made its appearance in New York, preventing matches from starting.
