The brother of American gymnastics champion Simone Biles was arrested and charged with murder after a shooting that killed three at a New Year's party in Cleveland, Ohio.
Tevin Biles-Thomas, 24, was charged with murder, assault and perjury on Thursday, according to the indictment filed by AFP.
He was arrested in Georgia following "the unrelenting efforts of the Cleveland police," according to Cuyahoga County prosecutor Michael O'Malley, quoted by the local press.
Shortly before midnight on New Year's Eve, a group of young men had tried to break into a party at a rented apartment on Airbnb. A fight broke out and shots were fired, leaving three dead and two wounded, according to local media reports.
The brother of the gymnast, a soldier, is the only person implicated for the moment in this case.
Simone Biles, a four-time Olympic champion, spent her early years in foster care, her mother suffering from addictions, before being adopted with her youngest sister by their maternal grandfather.
In January 2018, she revealed that she was one of the victims of Larry Nassar, former doctor of the women's gymnastics team, who was behind one of the most serious scandals in the history of American sports, convicted of hundreds of assaults committed for two decades.
She did not comment directly on her brother's troubles but wrote on Twitter: "I try to digest, do not talk to me".
