Taroudant drama: El Othmani announces the opening of an investigation

Immediately warned by the incident, the authorities concerned began investigations to clarify the origin of this tragedy and determine the responsibilities, said El Othmani at the opening of the council of government, Thursday.

After delivering prayers for the victims and offering his condolences to their families, the head of the government said that "the local authorities and those concerned are mobilized to find the missing persons". He also posted a message of condolence on his Twitter account:

إنا لله وإنا إليه راجعون, تلقيت ببالغ الأسى والحزن نبأ فاجعة السيول الفيضانية المفاجئة التي جرفت مساء اليوم ملعبا للكرة وأودت بحياة عدد من الضحايا بجماعة إمي نتيارت إقليم تارودانت. رحم الله الضحايا والتعازي الحارة لذويهم. وإن السلطات المختصة معبأة في عين المكان

"To God we return. I learned with deep sadness the announcement of the sudden flood that devastated a soccer field on Wednesday night and claimed the lives of a number of victims in the province of Taroudant. May God have mercy on the victims and my warmest condolences to their loved ones. The competent authorities are mobilized on the spot ".

"The government will discuss, at today's meeting (of the Governing Council, ed), measures to be taken to prevent these kinds of tragic incidents from happening again in other places, "he said Thursday.

He also called for vigilance and taking the necessary precautions, asking all stakeholders to work together to prevent such incidents due to climate change. He also called on administrations, local authorities, civil society and citizens to mobilize and collaborate to avoid, in the future, "these sad incidents".
