Snowboarding – Maxence Parrot Wins Big Air at Oslo X Games

            <p>Quebec&#39;s Maxence Parrot was a standout class and won the Big Air event at the X Games in Oslo on Saturday when he returned to competition after defeating Hodgkin&#39;s lymphoma.

Just two months after his last treatments, the Bromont snowboarder won the Telenor Arena. After dominating the qualifications, he won a fifth career gold medal in Big Air at the X Games.

Parrot had a score of 91.00 in the final, when the top two of the three jumps were counted. Swede Sven Thorgren followed in second place with a score of 88.33, ahead of Japanese Yuki Kadono, with 84.66 points.

The 25-year-old Parrot revealed in January that he had Hodgkin's lymphoma. He then put a cross on the rest of the season.

After receiving his last treatments in June, he quickly returned to training to compete in the Oslo X Games. If it was rusty, it did not appear.

In the final, Parrot quickly found himself in the lead by winning a Cab Indy triple cork 1620 and a Frontside triple cork mute. Penultimate to start in the third round, Parrot dropped a hand to the ground after a Frontside triple cork mute that did not count.

Kanado was the last to go down the hill and needed a score of over 43.00 to beat Parrot. Kanado put his hands to the ground after his Frontside 1440 tail grab and he was content with a score of 36.66 which still allowed him to climb on the third step of the podium.

Saskatchewan's Mark McMorris was also in the final. He missed his three jumps, however, and finished fifth with a score of 30.00.
