The second duel between Denis Shapovalov and Felix Auger-Aliassime at the US Open will have left the fans hungry again.

The Canadian Press

A year after Auger-Aliassime was out in the third inning against his Canadian compatriot and friend because of heat stroke and a high heart rate, Shapovalov made a mouthful of his rival, s 'imposing 6-1, 6-1, 6-4 in one hour 37 minutes.

After reaching the semifinals at the Winston-Salem Open last week, Shapovalov seems to have finally regained his mettle. He scored 28 winners against Auger-Aliassime, who managed just nine.

Auger-Aliassime, 18e seeded, also committed 27 unforced errors and won only seven of the 26 points played on his second serve ball. Shapovalov has broken the Quebecer's serve six times.

Shapovalov avenged a 6-2, 7-6 (7) setback at the hands of Auger-Aliassime in May at the Madrid Open.

In the second round, Shapovalov will face the winner of the match between Switzerland's Henri Laaksonen and Italy's Marco Cecchinato.
