The draw of the first world beach games of the Association of National Olympic Committees (Acno), which took place Tuesday in Doha, placed the Moroccan selection of beach soccer (men) in Pool A, alongside the Brazil, Switzerland and the United Arab Emirates.
Expected from October 12 to 16 in the Qatari capital, the beach soccer competition will be attended by 16 selections, divided into four groups.
Pool B is made up of Italy, Spain, Mexico and the Solomon Islands, while Group C includes Iran, Paraguay, Senegal and Ukraine. Group D is made up of Russia, Japan, Uruguay and El Salvador.
The draw ceremony of these games was marked by the presence of the Secretary General of the Qatari National Olympic Committee, Jassem Ben-rached Al-Bouaynine, the Secretary General of the Acno, Gunilla Lindberg, representatives of Fifa, of the International Handball Federation and participating selections.
The beach soccer event will take place on the beach of the Katara Cultural Village, while handball will be held at the Al Gharrafa Sports Complex.
The world beach games will bring together no less than 1,230 athletes from 100 countries and will be involved in 14 disciplines.
