The government wants to promote the regionalization of immigration. To achieve this, just over 110 employees will be added to the Immigration, Diversity and Inclusion team across the province. In Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean, industry stakeholders are delighted with the news.
Simon Jolin-Barrette, Minister of Immigration, Diversity and Inclusion, announced an investment of just over $ 8 million to increase the number of regional offices of the Department of Immigration.
Nearly 40 new departmental points of service will be set up across Quebec.
Josée Bouchard, Director General of Doors Open on the Lake, approves of these upcoming additions.
This is a clear signal that the regions currently living in Quebec are one of the most aggravating situations in relation to the scarcity of manpower. Having a reinforcement in terms of resources in the community, I think that we are giving ourselves chances to succeed.
The Director General of Promotion Saguenay, Patrick Bérubé, also welcomes the idea of increasing the number of regional workers and branches of the Department of Immigration, Diversity and Inclusion.
On the other hand, he considers that the regions mustto regroup and not to compete
to attract more immigrants.
According to Catherine Gignac.
