Switzerland won the relay at the opening of the World Championships in Mont-Sainte-Anne, Canada. This is the sixth time the Helvets have won gold in this event, and the third time in a row.
The Swiss team consisted of Nino Schurter, Jolanda Neff, Sina Frei, Joel Roth and Janis Baumann. She finished 16 seconds ahead of the United States and 28 over France.
As often, Nino Schurter played a leading role in this success, the fifth for him in relay. The Grison Olympic champion took third place, but he was quick to take the lead, setting the fastest time of the day.
Schurter will try Saturday to become individual world champion for the eighth time in his career. "I feel very strong for a few days," he said.
