Flora was kidnapped by the loan shark Andres. The latter, in order to free the young woman, thus asks Inigo for an exorbitant sum, with which to repay the debt that he contracted with him to steal Tito Lazcano from the clutches of Salvador Borras. However, the pastry chef decides not to ask Rosina for help, even though she is aware that this could represent a danger for her sister.
During a rather excited dialogue, Samuel clarifies his position to Jimeno Batán and reminds him that he doesn’t want to get his hands dirty on his behalf.

Stressed by the chatter that has arisen on her account, Lucia writes a letter to the newspapers in which she declares that she is free to do what she believes best in her life. Counting on Celia’s little help, completely distracted and obsessed with Milagros, the girl then organizes her birthday party, where she decides to invite a journalist as well.
Rosina realizes that Leonor and Liberto are hiding something about Inigo from her; the bourgeois then decides to press her husband, who confesses to her about the kidnapping of Flora, stressing that the pastry chef will only be freed in exchange for a big ransom.
Lucia’s twenty-third birthday, the day on which she will inherit the Valmez heritage, is approaching. Felipe notes that Celia is not in the least interested in the topic and urges her to take care of family affairs, rather than spending all day thinking about Milagros.
Lucia’s birthday party goes in the best way, even if Celia leaves the guests in the middle of the banquet, ending up making Felipe angry. At the end of the celebrations, Lucia and Telmo remain alone in the rectory and make love for the first time.
