For his part, Mugello has never made a career of Formula 1, but tests have been carried out there, more recently in 2012.

Imola chiefs have commissioned the Dromo track design company to renovate the hospitality areas in the paddock. In a statement from the circuit it was said that "they are ready to accept the challenge" of trying to bring F1 back to the circuit.
"The great work done by the president of ICA, Angelo Sticchi Damianand, to keep Formula 1 in Italy, I could reopen the possibility, even on our race track, of seeing red cars [Ferrari] and the whole return of the circus, "said circuit president Uberto Selvatico Estense.
"To achieve this result it is essential to have the full support of regional and metropolitan institutions, as is happening with Monza and Mugello."
Imola's statement made reference to Mugello's alleged "candidacy" for an F1 race in the future, although this is not of interest for the Tuscan track in the short term.
Earlier on Tuesday, Mugello announced the result of an economic impact study that claimed that track activity contributes nearly € 130 million to the local and regional economy.
The study relates to 2017 and states that the events of the circuit created more than 1,000 jobs in Mugello and Tuscany.
That report did not mention F1, but according to Italian news agency Ansa, Mugello circuit director Paolo Poli said the championship is a potential long-term option.
"The first objective will be to renew the agreement with MotoGP," Poli said. "Then, in five years, we will also consider submitting an application to take Formula 1 to Tuscany."
"Having a society at the national level will be necessary, just as Monza did when signing the agreement with F1 over the next few years."
